NASA raced to launch space shuttle Endeavour ahead of a front that was expected to bring record cold temperatures to Florida.

Sure enough, the weather cooperated and Endeavour soared into a clear night sky next to a nearly full moon, en route to the International Space Station.  The brilliant exhaust plume was visible for miles up and down the Florida coast, and even over Tampa Bay.
